Like many unplanned sequels, Taken 2 is not half as good as its prequel. It was clearly made just for money, because its makers were sure that after the successful Taken, people would rush into the theaters to watch Taken 2. And unfortunately, that actually happened.
The plot is as cheesy at it can get. Murad Krasniqi (Rade Serbedzija), the father of one of Kim’s (Maggie Grace) kidnappers, seeks revenge against Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) who killed his son during the first movie. Murad kidnaps Bryan’s ex wife, Lenore (Famke Janssen) during their holiday in Istanbul. And the rest is as cheesy as it is predictable. The only fun part of the story was when Bryan was explaining stuff to Kim.
The performance was good enough, the directing wasn’t. A lot of scenes were the same as Taken, bringing us no enjoyable content. Taken 2 lacks every good thing Taken had, except Liam Neeson of course.
Though it’s still boring and predictable, it was a little better than expected. However, it’s not really worth your time.
