Monsters University (2013)

Don’t you just love sequels/prequels that don’t ruin the first movie for you? Well, Pixar has been doing a good job lately, Toy Story 3 for example, and now, Monsters University is a good prequel to one of our childhood’s favorite movies, Monsters Inc.

Here, we see Mike and Sully, the two monsters we love, in their college days. How they did their best to be accepted in the scarer team,  who goes out to the human world to scare children and get energy. However, they both fail the semester, and have to win The Scare Games, a competition, to get accepted back in the courses.

To be honest, I thought that this movie will only bring back some memories, but it did a little more than that. I actually laughed repeatedly during the film, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was pretty entertaining. Okay, the 3D effect wasn’t great, but the animation and everything else were tip-top.

So the bottom line here is that Monsters University wasn’t a disappointment. People who enjoyed Monsters Inc. will also enjoy Monsters University, and I’m actually glad they are making children movies this good, cause you know, messed up generation and all that.

Rating: 7.4/10 ; A pretty surprise from the past!
